This is a list of 173 birds reported from Sheepwash Urban Park. Those up until 2005 have been taken from the West Midland Bird Club Annual Report, with later reports from various sources. Only more recent reports of the commoner species are given. I would be grateful if you would let me know of any errors or omissions

BEWICK'S SWAN Cygnus columbianus
Eleven from December 20th to 21st 1997. Five circled on 14th November 1999 but left to east after a few minutes. One on November 14th 1999.

WHOOPER SWAN Cygnus cygnus
An adult on July 19th 1998 was undoubtedly a feral bird.

PINK-FOOTED GOOSE Anser brachyrhynchus
One with a flock of Greylag Geese on February 24th 1998 was of unknown origin.

One from January 8th to 10th and June 15th 1993.

GREYLAG GOOSE Anser anser
Eleven very wary birds, with a single Pink-footed Goose, dropped in on February 24th 1998, with one on April 5th and four on April 19th. One on August 2nd to 4th 1999. One on August 31st 2000.

CANADA GOOSE Branta canadensis
Breeding resident. Maximum of 150 in December 1998.

BARNACLE GOOSE Branta leucopsis
Single birds from January 15th to February 8th and on April 21st and June 3rd 1998.

Fourteen on November 20th 1997. A pair on April 28th 2005, with two on September 7th and one on November 18th.

Up to two January - April 1998, with up to three from October 4th to the year's end. Up to three autumn/winter 1999. Up to two between January and March and one between October and December 2000. Winter visitor in 2005.

Two on May 1st 1999, with one on the 3rd. One was present on April 21st 2000, with three on 22nd and a final single on 27th.

STONECHAT Saxicola torquata
In 1999, the wintering male remained on Rattlechain Tip until March 14th, with two passage birds on March 13th. In 2000, two present on Rattlechain Tip until February 20th. A female on March 8th was followed by a male on the 10th and a female on the 11th. One returned to Rattlechain Tip on October 12th with one or two birds subsequently until the end of the year.

Noted on five dates between March 25th and April 27th 2000 with a peak of two birds. Singles on March 19th and April 23rd 2005.
